Heri started working in the reception on-board Norröna. He soon realised he wanted a career working at sea and therefore he transferred to the position of an ordinary seafarer. After a few years he started studying to become a master and after finishing his studies he started as 2nd officer and has since been promoted to 1st officer and to Chief Officer onboard Norröna.
Ida Marie
Ida Marie joined as a freight forwarder when Smyril Line Cargo set up the office in Hirtshals in 2018. She enjoyed it very much and a few months later she started her internship within freight forwarding. When she finished her internship, she wanted to experience working in the Faroese freight office, where she has been working since summer 2021. In January 2023 Ida was promoted to Air Freight Manager.
Petur
Petur joined as a captain on-board Norröna in 2012. After having sailed around the world for many years he decided to accept the offer to become captain on-board Norröna. He wanted to go back to the Faroe Islands, and with the Scandinavian influenced culture and social relations on-board, he found it an easy decision to make. It is an exciting job with no day being the same.
Filip
Filip joined the purchase department at Smyril Line Cargo Tórshavn in 2018, as a freight forwarder. He holds a BSc. in International Business & Business Administration from Hong Kong. His language skills and expertise within international business and communication is something Filip makes use of daily in his job as a freight forwarder. He enjoys the thrill of new and exciting daily tasks.
Andrias
Andrias started as a chef apprentice in 2018. Once he had completed the general course, he was convinced that this was the right career path for him. Andrias choose Smyril Line because he wanted to work for a diverse company that offered him the opportunity to work with different people and experience life at sea. He very much enjoyed life at sea and works as a chef on-board Norröna.
Rike
Rike joined Smyril Line’s German sales office in 2015. She is educated as a Travel Agent and has a lot of experience within tourism. Rike was promoted to Sales & Office Manager in the German office in April 2022. She finds it very exciting to work with colleagues from different countries and promote the Faroe Islands and Iceland to the German market.
Sigmundur
Sigmundur started as an accounting apprentice in 2006, specialising in administration. Once he had completed his apprenticeship he worked in the sales department. In 2010 Sigmundur was promoted to purchase manager. In 2018 Sigmundur completed HD 2. Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He thoroughly enjoys being part of a vibrant company as it brings exciting new challenges.
Lasse
Lasse has been part of Smyril Line since 2010 when he joined as Manager for the Tax Free Shop onboard Norröna. Later he became Sales & Service Manager and he has also been Chef Manager for a period. It has been an exciting journey to be part of the Hotel Department onboard and Lasse has gained a wide range of experience. In 2023 Lasse was promoted to Onboard Hotel manager.
Ulla
Ulla started in a job in the Tax Free Shop onboard Norröna in 2016. She enjoyed her job and the life at sea and when she was offered an apprenticeship within sales onboard she did not hesitate to accept. Ulla gained knowledge within sales and costumer relations and when she finished her apprenticeship Ulla became Manager for the Tax Free Shop. In 2022 Ulla decided to look for new challenges and started as an apprentice in the bookkeeping department at Hotel Hafnia to gain knowledge on bookkeeping and administration.
Amy
Amy started as an apprentice within administration and tourism in 2018. As an apprentice she worked within various departments and gained knowledge on sales, marketing and revenue. When she finished her apprenticeship Amy worked in the Sales Department and also in the HR Department getting a broad range of experience. In 2022 Amy started as a Product Assistant in the Revenue Department where she assists on maintaninace, development, administration and selling products.
